Often fitness is looked at with good physique and abs. But doing exercises without proper posture and form can lead to serious injuries. Look at the below points in order to avoid injuries and maximise your potential during workout:
EGO LIFTING:- It is an act of lifting weights beyond your capacity with a conscience effort to impress your friends, opposite sex or other people in the gym. This is one of the most common and biggest mistake that people make in gym. It not only minimises your potential but also increases the chance of serious injuries. So guys please leave your ego at the door and your sweat on the floor.
NOT USING WEIGHTLIFTING BELT:- While lifting heavy one should use weightlifting belt in order to avoid back injuries. It not only helps in protecting your back but also helps in lifting those extra kilos. It should only be used when there's a heavy load on your spine. Take a normal breath in and tighten the belt as tight as possible till it does not interfere with your normal breathing.
SKIPPING WARM UPS:- In order to get results quickly people end up avoiding warm ups. This can lead to serious injuries. It is recommended that you should be doing at least 5-10 minutes of warm up before doing exercises. Stop it please and never skip warm up for the sake of doing few extra sets.
KNOWLEDGE:- It is often seen that people do exercises without proper knowledge. One should start slowly and learn exercises from an expert in order to maximise performance and minimise injuries.
DON'T BEND YOUR BACK:- While doing back exercises one should not bend his back and instead keep his back straight in order to avoid injuries as well as maximise his performance.
STRAIGHTENING KNEE DURING LEG PRESS:- One of the major cause of knee injury during Leg Press Workout is straightening of knee. There should always be a bend in your knee when you push the weights upwards.
OVERTRAINING:- Overtraining happens when a person has repeatedly exercised at intensity, quality and duration that is more than their body can recover from. Training repeatedly and pushing yourself to the limit can be very dangerous. To prevent burn out, have at least two days a week and cross train with different activities.
